Competing in the WorldSkills Australia competition was a defining experience in my web development journey. I entered the competition while completing my Certificate III in Web Development, having only been learning to code for just four months.
Despite being relatively new to coding, my dedication and passion for learning drove me to perform to the best of my ability. To my surprise, I won bronze in the competition, an achievement that validated my skills and hard work.
The experience not only boosted my confidence but also deepened my commitment to pursuing a career in the tech industry. It demonstrated to me the power of self-learning, determination, and the impact of stepping outside my comfort zone.
I was honored to be selected as a finalist for Student of the Year in Business and Information Technology 2024 after being nominated by my teacher, who recognised my dedication, consistent effort, and the pride I take in producing high-quality work.
Balancing my studies with being a wife and mum to three children has been both challenging and rewarding, and this nomination reflects the commitment and perseverance I bring to everything I do. It’s incredibly meaningful to have my hard work acknowledged, and it motivates me even more to continue growing both personally and professionally.
Unfortunately I didn’t win but its a honour to be a finalist.
