We began by understanding how layers function and their role in organising design elements. We then learned how to select the correct layer to edit specific parts of a composition, rearrange layers to change visual stacking order, and control layer visibility and opacity to refine the overall design. Additionally, we practiced resizing and transforming layers to fit design needs, as well as creating and deleting layers to manage our workspace efficiently. These skills were put into practice through a hands-on challenge where we designed a mood board collage, allowing us to apply everything we learned in a creative and practical way. The before and after As part of our practical exercises, we created original branded content images for well-known companies to strengthen our visual design and branding skills. I chose Under Armour and Bose, developing custom graphics that aligned with each brand’s identity and target audience. For Under Armour, I focused on visuals that reflected athletic performance and motivation, using strong typography and dynamic imagery. For Bose, I took a more sleek and modern approach, emphasizing clarity, sound quality, and minimalist design to reflect the brand’s premium audio products. This task helped me better understand brand consistency, visual storytelling, and how to create compelling content that supports a brand’s message and market presence. By the end of the unit we got to flex some of our skills and it was quite fun to just see what photoshop is capable of doing.

Building a brand identity https://danarussellwebdev.com/building-brand-identity/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=building-brand-identity https://danarussellwebdev.com/building-brand-identity/#respond Fri, 04 Apr 2025 12:12:36 +0000 https://danarussellwebdev.com/?p=497 As part of the unit CUAGRD514 – Create and Manipulate Graphics, I developed a brand logo and promotional banner for a fictional athleisure company named GE. Based on the business requirements provided, I designed a modern and dynamic logo that reflects the brand’s active lifestyle identity, incorporating clean lines and bold typography to convey energy and movement. In addition to the logo, I created a visually engaging website banner that aligns with the brand’s aesthetic, using a cohesive color scheme and high-quality imagery to capture attention and promote GE’s products. This project demonstrated my ability to interpret a client brief, apply design principles, and use graphic design tools to create professional visual assets tailored for digital platforms. The brand wanted a simple and clean design that included the letters “GE” from their business name.

What’s to come https://danarussellwebdev.com/welcome/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=welcome https://danarussellwebdev.com/welcome/#respond Fri, 13 Dec 2024 02:43:07 +0000 https://danarussellwebdev.com/?p=389 I am beyond excited to start my Diploma of Information and Technology, with a specific focus on front-end development. The prospect of diving deep into the world of coding, design, and user experience is thrilling, as I’ve always been fascinated by how websites and applications come to life. I look forward to mastering the key technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and gaining a solid understanding of frameworks and tools that drive modern web development. This course will not only help me develop technical skills, but also give me the creative freedom to craft visually appealing, intuitive user interfaces. It’s an exciting step toward my future career, and I can’t wait to begin learning and growing in this dynamic field.
